FAMILY FORUM DONATES A 30 SEATER TOYOTA AIRCONDITIONED BUS TO RUN
A 30 seater air-conditioned Toyota bus was , on Thursday 19, 2009, donated to the University by the Redeemer’s University Family Forum (RUNFF). The presentation was made by four members of the RUNFF Executive, Captain E.O. Ibitolu (Rtd), Mr. Wilson O. Mba, Chief Afolabi Ajomale and Mr. Olatoye Kadiri. To receive the bus were the Principal officers of the University, the Secretary to the Forum, Mrs Moji Oje, and representatives of the RUN Students.
Speaking at the occasion, the President of the forum, Capt. E.O. Ibitolu (Rtd), said that since the University was founded, the Forum had been deliberating on the ways to contribute to the development of the University. While the Forum focussed on supporting projects on the permanent site, it was still considered appropriate to get involved in activities on the temporary site. He was therefore grateful to God that the Committee of the Forum, headed by Mr. Ajomale, came up with the recommendation to purchase a bus to ease students’ transportation problems..
The Vice-Chancellor expressed the appreciation of the University to the Forum and said the bus will be put to proper use for the students. He hoped that members of the Forum, whose children will graduate this year, will continue to work for the development and growth of the University, even after their children have become RUN graduates He said that the university would always be in touch with the graduates through the establishment of Alumni Association.
Mr. Wole Odeleye, one of the students at the event, said that he and his fellow students were delighted to know that the parents and the university administration were aware of their plight and were making efforts to solve the problem as demonstrated by the donation of a bus. This gesture was bound to change the negative perceptions of the students.
All the principal officers of the university, the executive members of the Family Forum, representatives of the students and some staff of the university took a ride round the university campus in the new bus.
