AN EVENING WITH RUN FIRST SET OF GRADUATES

An informal get together party was organised by the Vice-Chancellor  of the Redeemer’s University (RUN), for the first set of graduating students of RUN on Friday June 19, 2009 at the Vice-Chancellor’s Lodge. Speaking at the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oyewale Tomori, said that the first set of graduates from RUN were the Ambassadors of the university. He therefore urged the graduating students not to do anything that would tarnish the good image of RUN. As he put it, “it takes only one individual among the graduating students to commit an offence and the image of the whole university would be affected”.

He said that the reason some of their colleagues were sent packing was because they were caught violating the rules and regulations of the university.

He told them that the university would always be in touch with them. He said “we will continue to monitor you wherever you are; we will monitor your progress and offer advice where necessary”. He further told them that the university will continue to celebrate them anytime anyone of them record any major achievement. He noted that all of them must always remember RUN as their own because they will continue to be member of the RUN family. He urged them to use the two weeks they would stay on campus after their examination to put in place the alumni association of RUN on a very strong footing.

The University Bursar, Mrs. O.O. Wariso advised the female graduating students to remember the child of whom they are – their biological parents and Almighty God who is our father in heaven. She said that if they remember this at all time, they would never make mistakes in decision to be made in life. She noted that RUN environment is an utopian, and whilst not trying not to scare them the outside world would be though.

The University Librarian, Dr. E.L. Adebayo, in his own contribution wished them well. He said that the graduating students were lucky because they were still very young. He recounted that he got his university admission after having his first daughter who is now a pharmacist.

The Registrar, Mr. Babatunde Adebayo wished the graduates well but told them that the outside world is very tough hence they must be focused and be ready to face  the challenges that would come their ways.

The wife of the Vice-Chancellor, Mrs. Remi Tomori, in emotion laden remarks said that “you are the reason we came back from WHO assignment”. She said “ we will missed you because you were like children to us”. She urged the graduating students to dropped their email addresses and their telephone numbers so as to enable her be in constant touch with them.
