3E FOUNDATION DONATES BOOKS TO RUN

The 3E Foundation has donated books valued at several millions of naira on Actuarial Science to the Redeemer’s University (RUN). The donation was made by the Managing Director of the foundation, Mr. O. Opayinka. Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Opayinka disclosed that the foundation came into existence nine years ago to promote Actuarial Science profession in Nigeria. He revealed that the foundation has decided to make RUN the tutorial centre for Actuarial Science in Nigeria. He promised that the foundation would sponsor Professor R. O. Ayorinde and one other lecturer to a conference on Actuarial Science in South Africa in 2010. He noted that the book donation was meant to formalise a relationship between the Foundation and RUN.
Receiving the books, the Librarian, Dr. L. E. Adebayo, said “today is my happiest day in RUN because the books being donated are the desired ones.” According to him, the books would help the University in meeting the standard of the National Universities Commission Accreditation Team that is slated to visit the University in January, 2010. He told the gathering that the University had 136 titles in Actuarial Science before the donation. He prayed that the foundation would continue to wax stronger by the day.
The Registrar, Mr. Babatunde Adebayo, thanked the foundation for its kind gesture. He said he hoped that with the help coming from the foundation for the promotion of Actuarial Science in RUN, the discipline would soon enjoy higher patronage from students. He prayed for a fruitful and cordial relationship between RUN and the foundation.
A total of two hundred and eighty (280) volumes comprising of books, processing, journals and technical reports, were donated by the foundation.
